“Sec Léger Wine House, Portugal“

It’s not Port, but this fortified wine comes from Portugal. Instead of coming from the mainland, its origins are in Câmara de Lobos, a small town on the south coast of the island of Madeira.

Henriques & Henriques, founded in 1850, is responsible for producing this lighter, less sweet version of Madeira’s fortified wines.

The glass fills with a delicious amber liquid. An exuberant aroma of caramel, figs, raisins and candied fruit rises to the top. In the mouth, the sweetness isn’t too pronounced, the acidity provides a pleasant freshness and the 19% alcohol content doesn’t hide the pleasure from the taste buds. Its profile makes it very versatile, allowing it to be used in a variety of ways. As suggested on the bottle, it can be served as an aperitif, with ice and a touch of lemon, or as a cocktail. It can also be enjoyed on its own, as an after-dinner drink, with a cheese platter or with desserts. And what else? It can also be used in cooking to enhance a sauce or marinade. Last but not least, it can be stored for several months after opening, giving us the opportunity to prolong our enjoyment! “
